Sea Paradise Inc. opened its doors in 1984 as one of Kona Hawaii’s original premier scuba diving operations. Originally located on the pier at historic Keauhou Bay. Sea Paradise Inc. offered scuba diving tours to incredible dive sites in south Kona. The facility offered full scuba certification courses and carried a complete line of scuba equipment for retail sales as well as a technical repair center.

Sea Paradise
dive-boatSea Paradise “Sea Paradise” a custom made 32-foot dive boat was based on the popular “Radon” style boats of California. “Sea Paradise” offered comfort and convenience to its passengers, with easy access to the water from its wide swim step getting in and out of the water was a breeze.

Hokuhele
boat400The Hokuhele was a 50-foot long by 22 foot wide sailing catamaran, which replaced “Sea Paradise” in 2005. “Hokuhele” (translated is Traveling Star) has two heads (restrooms) a service galley, two sun/seating decks, freshwater shower hose, and a large staircase for entering and exiting the water. “Hokuhele” was brought over from a popular sailing/snorkeling company in Maui. After a complete overhaul “Hokuhele” began to offer a true sailing and snorkel cruises to the world famous Kealakekua Bay the home to the Captain Cook Monument and marine conservation area. Already known for offering incredible scuba diving experiences at the famous Manta Ray Village, “Hokuhele” expanded the company’s capabilities to the non-diver (snorkeling) guests.

Mo Betta Boat
mo-betta-boat“Mo Betta” a custom made 28-foot dive boat began to offer a more personalized dive experience in 2007. “Mo Betta” a smaller yet faster boat capable of reaching all the most southern dive destination and providing the same comfort and convenience as the larger “Sea Paradise” vessel.

Tsunami Damage 2011

tsunami-damageIn March 2011 a tsunami generated from the horrific earthquake off the coast of Japan, completely destroyed the store located on the Keauhou Bay pier. Due to the extensive damage to the scuba center and the loss of scuba equipment, Sea Paradise Inc. effectively shut down all diving operations.

The New Sea Paradise Storefront

Sea Paradise storefront Keauhou is Hawaiian for “A New Era”. In May of 2011 Sea Paradise Inc. reopened its doors at the Keauhou Shopping center. Our new store offers a more modern boutique style retail floor with activity sales and a check-in counter. The retail floor carries a wide selection of logo wear and locally made surf apparel for adults and children. Also available are beach and sun necessities such as our high quality environmental friendly sunblock. Behind the scenes is a county Health Department certified prep kitchen to prepare all the meals for our trips. For our snorkel and beach gear rental department there is the equipment room complete with a custom cleaning station.
