Float beneath the starry sky, bathed in the soft glow of underwater lights, as graceful manta rays glide effortlessly past you. It’s an unforgettable experience you won’t want to miss and one of the best things to do in Kona.

Join us on the Hoku Nui, our luxurious 50-ft catamaran and sail across the moonlit waves. The gentle sway of the boat and the cool night air caress you as anticipation builds for an unforgettable encounter. Your destination: Manta Ray Village, a haven for these majestic creatures where they gather to feed under the cloak of darkness.

Manta Ray Village, located in Keauhou Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii, is a world-renowned spot for viewing manta rays in their natural habitat. The story begins in the 1970s, when the Kona Surf Hotel (now closed) installed floodlights to illuminate the ocean at night. These lights  attracted plankton, a favorite food source for manta rays. The manta rays quickly learned to associate the lights with food, and Manta Ray Village was born. While the Kona Surf Hotel’s original floodlights are gone, Manta Ray Village remains a prime location to witness the majesty and grace of manta rays.

The expert crew will then navigate to the prime manta ray viewing location. With a sighting guarantee, you can rest assured that you’ll witness these underwater marvels gracefully flitting through the water.

Manta rays, with their wingspans reaching up to 18 feet, are mesmerizing creatures. Their filter feeding technique, where they engulf plankton with their wide mouths, is a sight to behold. Bathed in the ethereal moonlight, watching them glide effortlessly will leave you breathless. This bucket list experience is sure to be a highlight of your trip, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.
